Boukje Vastbinder

Boukje studied product design as well and worked a few years all over the world as a product designer, designing sustainable consumer goods like furniture and clothing. While gaining experience in the sector of social design and fair trade she realized that it is often not the designer that decides on the nature of a design (and therefor how sustainable the impact of the product really is) but the entrepreneur.

She decided to expand her skillset to take this into account and learned more about entrepreneurship. and innovation principles by studying these but also be starting sustainable technology based enterprises. herself

Nowadays she designs business cases, workshops, processes, collaborations, solutions and many more, all with the aim to make the world a better place….

Besides her work for AmIaDesigner Boukje works as trainer and business/ program developer at the Valorisation Centre of the Delft University of Technology

Juliette Hofstede

Juliette graduated in 2014 at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences as a Product Designer. During her studies she strived to combine her love for beautiful authentic objects with a drive to create a positive impact on peoples lives. During her internship she worked at a local weaving mill in a rural village in Tanzania. Here she not only learned the craft of weaving on traditional looms but maybe more important she helped female weavers to improve their economic, social and cultural well-being by connecting their products to the global market place.

For her graduation project Juliette again worked with her hands. This time she tried to gain more insight and experience in the art of making pottery. She not only designed a complete tea set for Hollandsche Waaren, but she was also involved in the process of bringing this product to the market. Currently Juliette combines working with AIaD with working at Pols Potten, a style conscious Dutch brand known for its handmade pieces made by skilled craftsmen.

Working at AmIaDesigner gives here the chance to learn and experience more about the social side of design. Her drive to travel, learn and her hands on approach fits well within the company. Her impeccable taste and patience make her an outstanding graphic designer. As facilitator and educator for AmIaDesigner she benefits from her skills to work with people.
